Who We Are

Our mission is to remodel our lives on the Holy Family of Nazareth and the early Christian community, where Love, unity, understanding, acceptance, trust, and peace drowned out individual human differences and selfish likes and dislikes.

Our Mission
Our Charism

Our charism is to safeguard the rights of the unborn child, rehabilitate unmarried mothers, provide pastoral care to the poor and the Needy, and alleviate their problems, with particular attention to their spiritual well-being.

The Holy Family Sisters of the Needy is a religious Congregation in the Catholic Church, founded to live out the Gospel values through prayer, community life, and loving service to the poor and the needy. Inspired by the example of the Holy Family of Nazareth, the sisters dedicate their lives to God and the service of humanity, especially the most vulnerable in society.

The Apostolate of the institute is twofold: internal and external.

The internal Apostolate consists of helping members achieve the holiness of life and bear true witness to a life consecrated to God, while the External Apostolate consists of the practical works of charity directed to other people, especially the suffering poor and the destitute of society.

Our Founder

Our Founder, (Rev. Fr. Denis Mary Joseph Ononuju Obiaga, CSSP), was a man of prayer.

He would always say that a day without prayer is like a day without sunshine, a dark or mournful day. He said: "Writing from my own personal experience, and as strange as it might seem, it is a reality that prayer has proved to be the most assured means of sustenance and that it promotes and sustains a child-like confidence in God's providence" (HFSN Const. pg.11:2,8-1).

This portrait of our beloved Late Father Founder stands as a sacred reminder of our humble beginnings and the vision entrusted to him. Beside him is the devoted praying group from the United Kingdom, whose spiritual and material support greatly strengthened our foundation.

Through their generous contributions, the early structures of our congregation at Nekede , Owerri, Imo State were made possible. We remain deeply grateful for their unwavering prayers, sacrifice, and commitment to our mission.

May God bless and reward them abundantly.
